The Royal Oak is our local away from home. During every visit to England we MUST visit this pub. In our view the Royal Oak is a pub as a British pub should be.
The couple who own the place went out of their way to help us and served us a wonderful full English breakfast in the beer garden the next morning, which was included in the price. They topped up our tea and coffee until we couldn't drink any more.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, exciting tuesdays (open mic). We enjoyed every single evening that we spent there during our holiday in April. Pip and Carmen: you do a great job! We wish you the best and try to come back as soon as possible.
"We first stumbled upon this B&B in October 2011 when a trip to the seaside required us to stay overnight.
What a lovely suprise this pub was, attractive outside area so even smokers feel theres somewhere for them, inside is full of low beams, a warm and welcoming fire and full of charm. We were offered seats at the bar as soon as we walked in and a local guy started chatting to us straight away which was really nice. A good range of beers on offer plus regular guest beers.
"We stayed here last night, my partner organised it as a surprise for valentines night. The food was lovely, everything was beautifully cooked. We were then enjoying a drink after our meal and a local just randomly started singing with a guitar!
I had my surprise birthday party at the Royal Oak recently & can only say a big thank you to Pip & Carmen for their hospitality. The buffet was fantastic, live music first class & everyone who came thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A great day - Ill be back!
My husband and I enjoyed many a meal and good company at the Royal Oak in Rye Foreign. It is by far the best pub food around. We had many favourite dishes but the one we loved the most was the lamb shoulder. Always a generous portion and cooked to perfection..
